What Sets Mid Valley Apart
When a mental illness makes it impossible for someone to live safely on their own, Mid Valley steps in to support these individuals and help them with their recovery. We provide 24/7 residential mental health treatment in a locked setting to individuals living with psychotic disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and other serious mental health conditions.
Our team is helping address one of the biggest health crises facing Oregon. Today, Oregon faces an acute shortage of the facilities we need to care for individuals suffering from severe, untreated mental illness. This causes public safety issues, overwhelms our healthcare systems, and creates delays in the justice system. Mid Valley is proud to be part of the solution by providing safe, secure residential treatment when Oregonians need it most.
Mid Valley is creating a safer, more vibrant Oregon by making sure individuals get the mental health treatment they need. Our treatment program focuses on treating underlying mental health conditions and providing individuals with tools to build greater stability, independence and connection to the community. Our multidisciplinary teams of therapists, nurses, and mental health professionals care deeply about the residents we serve and make sure we treat everyone in our care with the dignity they deserve.
Caring for Oregonians in Need
Mid Valley serves adults living with severe and persistent mental health issues who have been referred directly by the Oregon Health Authority, court system or county mental health programs. These individuals come to Mid Valley when it’s been determined that secure residential treatment is the safest setting that gives them the best opportunity for recovery.
Aid and Assist
Individuals who are ordered by the court to receive mental health treatment to restore competency, so they can aid and assist in their criminal defense.
Civil Commitment
These individuals can no longer care for their basic needs or are at risk of harming themselves or others. In these instances, the court can order them to receive mental health treatment in a secure setting.
Psychiatric Security Review Board
Adults can be placed under the jurisdiction of the Psychiatric Security Review Board when they have been found "Guilty Except for Insanity." In these cases, they are ordered to undergo treatment in lieu of incarceration.
Treatment at Mid Valley
Behind every serious mental health condition is a person with strengths and the capacity for growth and recovery. Our job at Mid Valley is to see the individual, not the disease, and develop treatment plans that build on strengths and support meaningful progress toward recovery.
Care at Mid Valley is provided in a secure, locked environment with around-the-clock supervision. Our first priority is always stabilization. Next, we focus on personalized treatment plans that support individuals working toward living an independent life in the community, over time. Our team offers a wide variety of services to give individuals the best chance at recovery.
Medication Management
Medication administration and education, psychiatric oversight, and 24-hour nursing support.
Individual Therapy
Compassionate, evidence-based, trauma-informed psychotherapy adapted to meet each individual’s specific needs.
Group Therapy
Sessions to encourage connection, self-awareness, skill development and peer-support.
Recreation Therapy
Structured physical and leisure programs to support wellbeing, strengthen social skills, and build resilience.
Case Management
Comprehensive care coordination and transition planning focused on sustained recovery and future success.
Skills Training
We provide structured training designed to help individuals develop essential life, social, and coping skills that support improved daily functioning, greater stability, and increased independence.
Stays at Mid Valley can range from a few months to more than a year. We want to help individuals successfully reintegrate into their communities and regain their independence. As our residents become ready to transition to a lower level of care, we work with them to identify the best path to long-term stability and success.
